I recently saw you at Club de Hav at the University of Hertfordshire, I’m going to admit I didn’t have high hopes when you walked onto the carpet following Herbie Adams’ introduction. Might of had something to do with the fact you were performing to a smaller group, but I’ve got to say you blew me away. You took it down a notch and made it personal with the entire audience, I was in tears with laughter, which doesn’t happen often. Everything from the Back to the Future gags to introducing masturbation to the Germans. I loved every second. I hope to be one of them smug bastards who goes ‘I saw him before he made it big!’ when I see you on terrestrial.

Just came across this page on Wikipedia and had to add my little bit, of course. I just had to remind you how much I admire your writing in general, your gig diaries in particular and the way in which you go about the world, making friends through your comedy, your honesty and your dedication. Finch and Fellow Hoodlum were spot on. These diaries are inspirational and need to be out there.

Hello Chris,
My name is Jim. I was at ‘Glee’ Nottingham for Mick Foley’s gig and signing. I gave him a Marc Maron badge and I spoke to your partner Laura at length (she was trapped behind merch). Congrats on bringing out and thus hanging with a legend.

I have a wrestling blog on the analogy that American Politics is not unlike professional wrestling. I told Mick that he was one of my dream interviews. The blog allowed me to touch on some of my pet topics of Comedy, wrestling and politics.

I stumbled upon this and subsequently read each and every entry over the course of six and a half hours. Brilliant stuff that transcends regular bloggery. This reads as a genuine record of on the road stand up, highs and lows, reception etc. The writing paints a vivid picture of the venues you’ve played and audiences you’ve faced along with an honest account of you mindset during.

As an open-mic newb, this made for fascinating, inspiring and compulsive reading. Thank you for logging and sharing your year.

Been meaning to comment for a while. I’ve really enjoyed the blogs almost as much as you’ve hated writing them. If I was in publishing ‘Don’t **** with the Raffle: The Adventures of a Gigging Standing Comic’ would be in waterstones now. But I’m not, so don’t get excited. Be ashame if your voice disappeared from the net completely. Cheers

Just wanted to say that I’ve really enjoyed all your gig diaries, and they encouraged me to have a go at stand up myself. Every post contained some great advice, and if I do go on stage again, I’ll be sure to come back here and read the posts again as a refresher. If you do get these diaries published, I’ll be one of the first in line to get myself a copy.

Thanks, Chris. Keep up the good work. I look forward to buying you a drink in person. Preferably at a gig where you are driving, because you know, Coke is cheaper.

Impressive piece of work you’ve done here, Chris. And I agree about most of what you’ve said about Aarhus – especially about the bit where I left you in a bit of tight spot by not telling you when you should go onstage. Quess I was just too busy taking of my pants and telling jokes at the same time. Which is no mean feat, I tell you.

Anyways, best of luck with your soon to be not a diary blog. I’ll make sure to chime in now that I know it’s here.
